After interviewing with the Eagles for their vacant head coaching job on Sunday, there seems to be a lot of buzz surrounding Josh McDaniels.

The Patriots offensive coordinator has made it clear he would like to be a head coach again and has interviewed for many jobs in recent years, but ultimately has remained in New England.

The closest he came to leaving was in 2018 when he accepted the Colts’ job, but backed out at the last second.

McDaniels seems to be pretty interested in this gig, as he reportedly has already begun to line up a staff if he’s indeed hired.

The one issue McDaniels may have with taking the job is general manager Howie Roseman, who he reportedly wasn’t very fond of in the past. Roseman has been known to want to have a lot of power, which doesn't seem to be the structure McDaniels would prefer.

But, someone who could potentially help the relationship, or even change his thoughts on him was a person who McDaniels spent a lot of time with this past season.

Jedd Fisch, the Patriots’ quarterbacks coach.

Fisch was college roommates with Roseman at the University of Florida, so he knows Roseman quite well. Perhaps Roseman came up on occasion between the two last season in Foxborough and he was able to give McDaniels a different perspective on him that he did not have before.

It’s also likely Roseman contacted Fisch to get some intel on McDaniels over the last week.

Fisch left the Patriots late in the season to become the new University of Arizona head coach, but he still had spent months and months working closely with McDaniels.

If McDaniels does indeed get the job, it’s likely Fisch had at least a small part in making it happen.
