Buccaneers GM gives update on Tom Brady following offseason surgery

Tom Brady enjoyed a terrific 2020 season, his first in Tampa Bay, at age 43.

The quarterback threw for 40 touchdowns, leading the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win over the Chiefs. Brady never appeared on the injury report or missed any time during the season, but after the year needed to have a minor procedure on his knee.

A few weeks ago Bruce Arians said it's likely Brady wouldn't return to the field until June, but speaking to reporters Thursday, general manager Jason Licht gave a positive update, just without a timetable.

"I talked to him last week," he said. "I know things are going well. I don't want to put an exact timeline on it right now because I don't want to set expectations one way or the other, but I know that things are going very well."

Brady and the organization recently agreed to a contract extension, which will keep him in Tampa Bay through at least the end of 2022.
