Tom Brady responds to his father's recent comments about leaving Patriots

Last week, Tom Brady Sr. made headlines when speaking about his son leaving the Patriots and then winning the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay last year.

On NBC Sports Boston's The Patriots Talk podcast with Tom E. Curran last week, Brady Sr. said he felt vindication for his son after his season last year and also that Bill Belichick wanted him out he door.

Brady Sr. was also asked if Brady himself feels the same way?

"Damn right," he said.

Speaking on the SiriusXM podcast, “Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray” this week, Brady responded.

“I've actually prepared a statement that I wanted to say, and it's really all that I have to say on the subject," he said. "Comments made by Thomas Edward Brady, a 77-year-old insurance company CEO, who should know better at this point in his life, don't necessarily reflect the views or positions held by his son, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. So furthermore, should Tom Sr. continue to speak out on behalf of his son without the express written consent, Junior reserves the right to eventually put him in a home against his will. That's all I have to say.”

Brady added: I have the greatest dad in the world. He’s the most loving, caring, honest man in the world and without him there’s no way I’d be in the position that I’m in. He’s there to support me win or lose. He’s been on the field coming off year in, year out. And my biggest supporter.”

The quarterback did offer some positive words about his former coach.

“Well, I have 20 years of being there and, you know, obviously he's a great mentor for me," Brady said. "And, yes, there's definitely great lessons I've learned from him. And, you know, he's a great football coach and he does a great job for his team. Any player I think they would just hope that their coaches give them everything they’ve got and I’m sure every great coach wants every player to give them everything they’ve got. And I think that’s what makes a great relationship.”

Brady also said he isn't expecting to be cheered.
