Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Patriots cornerback Ty Law joined The Greg Hill Show Tuesday for his weekly appearance to discuss the loss to the Colts last weekend.

Even though Mac Jones had a tough game, he found a positive to take away and believes the loss will be a wake-up call for the team.

“You have to think about [what] this kid got thrown at him as soon as he came in," Law said. "I know he was a first-round draft pick. I know that there is no excuse when you step on the field, but the fact is no one expected him to be here. He didn’t even expect it for himself because Cam Newton was there at the beginning of the season. He was supposed to get groomed into the position. I think he’s doing a great job. I’m not going to kill him, it ain’t like he has all this experience right now. He made some plays that rookies make -- rookie quarterbacks make, but at the same time they are in a great position. He’s shown some promise in the fourth quarter by trying to lead a comeback and that’s a positive I take out of it.

“As far as the team perspective, y’all got your ass whipped. That’s what happened. They punched you right in the mouth. In the lunch room, they took your Juicy Juice, stuck their finger in your lasagna and you can’t do nothing about it. That’s how they played the first half. But, I think they are going to learn from this. Sometimes you need that wake-up call and the Patriots got that wake-up call. I think they are going to turn some things around and be ready for the playoffs.”
