One of the greatest honors an NFL player can receive is the coveted 99 rating in the Madden video game. After that in the digital world might come your first overall Madden ranking, which can be both exciting and humbling for players. For new Patriots quarterback Mac Jones it was both, and then some.
As part of a rookie ratings reveal for the latest edition of the Madden NFL game, Madden 2022, Jones reacts with the kind of confidence, humor and humility you’d hope to see out of someone with his pedigree and resumé. Considering he hasn’t played a single down of NFL football, and will have to battle with Cam Newton to potentially see the field in the 2021 season, Jones’ overall rating is pretty solid.
And his response to his overall rating? “It’s not about where you start, it’s about where you finish.” That sounds it was borrowed from the playbook of his GOAT-ly predecessor and should make his new head coach most pleased.
