Just when the Yankees appeared to be turning a corner, games like Monday night happened.

As if Matt Harvey holding the Yankees to one run over six innings for his best start of the year wasn’t bad enough, the eighth inning ended in a disaster of epic proportions.

With the bases loaded and two outs and the Yankees trailing the Orioles 4-1, Gio Urshela lined the ball into left field, which should have scored two runs to cut the Yankees’ deficit to one run.

But Aaron Judge made a baserunning blunder and was thrown out at third base to end the inning. The umpires ruled Judge was out before LeMahieu crossed home plate, taking a run off the board.

Manager Aaron Boone went to challenge the play, but was denied a review by the ump, which set Boone off.

The Yankees skipper was promptly ejected after he burst into a profanity-laced tirade on the ump.

Boone said afterwards that the ump told him he didn’t request a review in time, but Boone said it was awfully quick and he did not receive any indication from the ump that time was up.

Boone also seemed to think that the call on the field would have likely stood.

Regardless, it is another ugly Yankees loss and now the team drops to 9-13 and remain in last place in the AL East as questions continue to linger if this team really is not as good as everyone originally thought.
