A scary moment in the seventh inning of Red Sox' series finale against the Orioles Sunday resulted in the end of Adam Ottavino's outing.

With one out, Baltimore's Jorge Mateo rifled a 105.2 mph line-drive back up the middle, with the ball striking Ottavino's shoulder and ricocheting into right field for a single.

Ottavino was immediately tended to by Red Sox manager Alex Cora and the team's training staff, ultimately resulting in the call for Garrett Whitlock to replace Ottavino.

Whitlock would strand both of his inherited runners, keeping the Red Sox' lead at 6-2.

The seventh inning was Ottavino's first appearance in a week, with the reliever coming on for Eduardo Rodriguez. The Red Sox starter allowed just one run on three hits over six innings, striking out six, walking three and throwing 83 pitches.
