It is believed Jackie Bradley Jr. will be a man in demand this offseason.
The Astros are seemingly making the outfielder a priority. The free-spending Mets and Blue Jays appear to have interest in Bradley Jr. And the Red Sox have reached out to their longtime centerfielder.
But, according to Bradley Jr., no announcements regarding his next landing spot are expected anytime soon.
Appearing on CBS Sports' Fantasy Baseball Today Podcast with Will Middlebrooks and Danny Vietti, Bradley Jr. offered an update regarding his current lot in life as a free agent.
"I definitely have been able to hear from a couple of teams," Bradley Jr. said. "That's good to know there is definitely interest, and interest from multiple teams. But I think as of right now things are kind of moving slow. As you can see, like NBA, they're making moves left and right. I think we all kind of knew that baseball would be slow. The last couple of days or so things have been very chill, very relaxed. Haven't heard much talk around the league right now. For me, that's fine. I'm a pretty patient guy. That hasn't been my main focus at the moment because I have a little one who is going to be here imminently and that's been my main focus for my family. All that other stuff is going to take care of itself."
While George Springer is believed to be in line for the largest free agent contract among all outfielders this offseason, the former Astro does have a qualifying offer attached, necessitating the team which signs him to forfeit a draft pick. Bradley Jr. doesn't have such a designation.
The former first-round pick finished his 55-game 2020 season hitting .283 with an .814 OPS and seven home runs. He finished particularly strong in the final month, hitting .326 with a .985 OPS.
Bradley Jr. and his wife Erin are expecting their second child any day now, with the 30-year-old training in the Fort Myers area.
