Kenley Jansen opens up about meeting with Alex Cora

Three-time All-Star Kenley Jansen is now four-time All-Star Kenley Jansen.

For the first time since 2018, Jansen will be participating in the All-Star festivities, becoming the only member of the Red Sox to join the American League squad. This year's All-Star Game will be held at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Tuesday, July 11.

Jansen has made the National League All-Star team in three straight seasons, from 2016-18 and currently boasts 17 saves in 20 chances. It's the fourth-most in the American League, trailing Emmanuel Clase, Jordan Romano (both of whom have 20), Felix Bautista and Carlos Estevez.

The 35-year-old sits with a 3.45 ERA, having struck out 35 in 28 2/3 innings while giving up just two home runs.

The Red Sox signed Jansen - who sits with the seventh-most saves in baseball history (408) - to a two-year, $32 million deal in the offseason.

Two other candidates from the Red Sox who got edged out for All-Star nods were outfielders Alex Verdugo and Masa Yoshida. Besides the starters Mike Trout and Randy Arozarena, rounding out the American League outfield will be Luis Robert Jr., Austin Hays, Yordan Alvarez, and Adolis Garcia.
