On top of adding lefty reliever Austin Davis ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, the Red Sox also added a right-handed reliever.

In a trade with the Twins, the Red Sox acquired Hansel Robles in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Alex Scherff.

In 45 appearances with the Twins this year, Robles has a 4.91 ERA and 10 saves. The 30-year-old has spent time with the Mets and Angels before the Twins. His best season came in 2019 with the Angels when he recorded 23 saves and had a 2.48 ERA.

Robles will give the team some bullpen depth.

Scherff has spent time with High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland this season.
