The injury bug has made its way from the Bronx to Queens. It's now Jason Vargas headed to the 10-day IL for the Mets with hamstring tightness. Vargas isn't expected to miss significant time.

The Mets activated reliever Justin Wilson from the IL to replace Vargas. They also called up Corey Oswalt and sent Tim Peterson down to triple-A Syracuse.

Steven Matz is also dealing with a forearm injury, but is avoiding the injured list for now. The southpaw will miss Wednesday's start in San Diego and there is still a possibility he heads to the IL on Tuesday.

Steven Matz received an injection of cortisone and lidocaine today. The Mets aren't placing him on the IL because they want to give him a chance to pitch before he would be eligible to come off. That said, there's still a chance the Mets IL Matz tomorrow to make room for Font.

The Mets acquired reliever Wilmer Font from the Rays on Monday. There is a chance he makes a spot start for Vargas' spot in the rotation. Font has a 5.79 ERA in 14 innings out of the bullpen this season. Vargas was pitching better of late, but overall is 1-2 with a 5.92 ERA this season.
