Golden Tate Takes Big Helmet-To-Helmet Hit

In Sterling Shepard's first game back from his second concussion of the season, he watched teammate Golden Tate take a big helmet-to-helmet hit. 

During the first quarter of the New York Giants contest against the Chicago Bears, head coach Pat Shurmur used Tate for a punt return. The Giants' wideout ended up on the receiving end of what looked like a painful blow from Bears cornerback Sherrick McManis.

The hit sent Tate's mouthguard flying, earning him a trip to the blue tent for further evaluation. Tate soon returned to the field and was again used by Shurmur on a punt return.

Tate is fully aware that head injuries shouldn't be taken lightly. "As a family man with kids, I think it's way bigger than football. You've got to kind of be selfish when it comes to your head, neck and brain, I believe," Tate told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano earlier this year while his teammate Sterling Shepard recovered from a concussion.

Shepard suffered his second concussion of the season in Week 5 and while IR was considered for the Giants' wide receiver, he was cleared to return to action against the Bears. 

Tate signed a four-year, $37.5 million contract with Big Blue in March. The wide receiver has been one of Daniel Jones' favorite targets this season, entering the game against the Bears with 33 catches, 417 yards and three touchdowns in just six weeks of action. The 10-year NFL veteran missed the first four games of the season because of a PED suspension.
