The Jets are reportedly losing one of their biggest offensive weapons.
According to multiple reports, free agent wide receiver Robby Anderson has agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers. Anderson’s Jets career ends after four seasons spent in New York, and Sam Darnold loses one of his key targets.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the deal is worth $20 million over two years.
Instead, the 26-year-old will now join a Panthers team that released Cam Newton on Tuesday. He will be playing once again for Matt Rhule, who was his old college coach at Temple.
Anderson thanked his former team with a message on Instagram.

Jets fans would have been hoping to see Anderson re-signed so that he could continue to grow alongside Darnold, but now the 22-year-old will have to throw to a slightly different group of wideouts. After Jamison Crowder and Quincy Enunwa, there isn't a ton of depth at the position for Adam Gase's team.
Anderson stayed on the market a while, so this is already pretty late in the free agency game. Joe Douglas will have to decide whether he wants to add to his receiving corps by signing a free agent or by finding someone in the NFL draft.
