Yankees fans everywhere are holding their breath regarding the status of Aaron Judge.

Judge has been dealing with a shoulder/pec problem since the beginning of spring training, and it hasn’t healed up. General manager Brian Cashman admitted Tuesday that Judge is a doubt for Opening Day.

There are no updates on what Judge’s ailment actually is, but on Wednesday both Aaron Boone and Cashman spoke about Judge’s condition some more. The slugger has undergone a significant amount of testing on the injury over the last few days.

Brian Cashman said that Aaron Judge has now had “seven to 10” rounds of testing, but he does not want to provide a “drip, drip, drip” of details until all the information is complete. https://t.co/lBaT5dGXes

It’s not much of an update, but it’s obviously concerning for the Yankees that Judge’s injuries are requiring so much attention. Judge has missed time over the past two seasons with an oblique strain and broken wrist. He also underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder after his 2017 Rookie of the Year season.

Last season featured a cascade of injuries for the Yankees, and this season is looking like it could be the same. Giancarlo Stanton is out through the beginning of the season, Luis Severino is done for the entire season due to Tommy John surgery and James Paxton won’t be back until May while he recovers from a back ailment. Aaron Hicks is also recovering from Tommy John.

The Yankees are one of the deepest teams in the league. If Judge does miss regular season games, Clint Frazier or Mike Tauchman are two options for filling time in right field.
