The injuries are once again mounting for the Yankees.

The Yanks placed first baseman Luke Voit on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sports hernia. Voit left Tuesday's home game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth inning with the injury.

Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Voit will either need day-to-day treatment or surgery that would require a six-week recovery, WFAN's Sweeny Murti reported. A course of action is expected to be determined in the next 24 hours.

Voit is hitting .278 with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs this season.

Edwin Encarnacion, whom the Yankees acquired in a trade last month from the Seattle Mariners, is in the lineup at first base for Wednesday's game against Arizona.

The Yankees also placed reliever David Hale on the IL retroactive to July 28 with a back injury and recalled reliever Jonathan Holder and infielder Breyvic Valera from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees now have 15 players on the IL, including catcher Gary Sancez, outfielders Giancarlo Stanton and Brett Gardner and pitchers Luis Severino, Dellin Betancesa and CC Sabathia.

After enduring an onslaught of injuries early in the season, the Yankees are 67-39 and have a 7 1/2-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the American League East. The Bombers, however, have dropped six of their last nine games.

WFAN is the flagship station of the Yankees. Tune in to 660 AM or 101.9 FM this season to hear all the action.
