Gregg Giannotti is an unabashed Mets fan – rants about giving up on "crappy teams" aside – so anyone not named Wilpon owning the team is surely a plus in his eyes.
Gio, however, is not a fan of the A-Rod/J-Lo consortium reportedly being in the lead, because that's just going to lead to more drama off the field in his mind.
"What's going to happen when A-Rod and J-Lo break up?" Gio asked semi-rhetorically on Monday's Boomer & Gio Show. "It's gonna be all in the headlines about what happens to the Mets, and people are going to say, 'I can't believe the Mets are wrapped up in this celebrity smut-fest.' This is going to be a nightmare, and you know it."
All Boomer could do was just laugh, and that gave Gio a chance to break into his best tabloid news show voice to narrate the potential scene.
"All the EXTRA…'J-Lo and A-Rod break up: what does it mean for their baseball team? Take me out to the ballgame? Not so much anymore, as the celebrity couple breaks up, but the New York Mets could be next as it dissolves into a pile of crap!" Gio narrated.
Boomer admitted that he had the same thought, but Gio shot back when the Booms said "they seem to be very happy with each other."
"You think they're going to be at each other's funerals? Give me a break," Gio said. "Think they're growing old together, and 80-year-old couple out there holding hands? Do you know how many people Jennifer Lopez has been with? But A-Rod's the one? Sure, so let's buy a baseball team together."
A discussion about J-Lo's love history then roped Al Dukes into the fold, and, well, you're just going to have to listen below (or watch the video above) to see how it turns out!
