The New Jersey Devils settled for three points on their California road trip, going 1-1-1 against the Kings, Ducks and Sharks.

New Jersey's three-game swing ended with a 5-2 loss Monday night in San Jose.

Timo Meier scored twice for the Sharks, becoming the sixth player to score at least two goals in a game vs. the Devils. The others were:• Brent Burns, Feb. 12, 2017 (SJ 4 at NJD 1)• Joe Thornton (3 goals), Oct. 27, 2010 (SJ 5  at NJD 2)• Devin Setoguchi, March 2, 2010 (SJ 3 at NJD 4)• Owen Nolan, Jan. 22, 2003 (NJD 5 at SJ 4, OT)• Sergei Makarov, Nov. 13, 1993 (SJ 4 at NJD 2)

Damon Severson, who had points in all three games on the road trip, now has 18 points this season, the fourth most on the Devils.

On Sunday night in Anaheim, the Devils lost to the Ducks, 6-5 in the shootout.

It was New Jersey's first shootout this season, coming in their 28th game. The longest the Devils had gone into a season before having a game decided in the shootout was 16 games in 2010-11.

It was just the second time the Devils and Ducks played a game that was decided in a shootout. The other was on Feb. 17, 2012, a 3-2 New Jersey win with Patrik Elias scoring the decisive goal at Prudential Center.

Marcus Johansson forced overtime Sunday, scoring with 58 seconds remaining in the third period and Cory Schneider pulled for an extra attacker.

Johansson has three six-on-five goals and one six-on-four goal this season:

• Dec. 9, 2018 --  at Anaheim, 19:52 third period, six-on-five (tied game 5-5)• Nov. 30, 2018 -- at Washington, 18:10 third period, six-on-five (cut Capitals' lead to 4-3)• Nov. 23, 2018 -- vs. New York Islanders, 19:49 third period, six-on-five (tied game 3-3)• Nov. 1, 2018 -- at Detroit, 19:56 third period, six-on-four (cut Red Wings' lead to 4-3)

After scoring twice in the Devils' win over the Kings on Thursday, Kyle Palmieri had his fifth two-goal game of the season in the loss vs. Anaheim.

The last player to have more than five two-goal games in a season for New Jersey was Zach Parise, who had seven in 2009-10.

Anaheim's Ryan Miller, who was looking to become the all-time leader in wins by a U.S.-born goaltender, left the game with 12:47 left in the third period after suffering a leg injury and did not get credit for the victory.

Here are the American-born goalies who won at least 150 NHL regular season games:

• John Vanbiesbrouck, 374 (six with Devils)• Ryan Miller, 374• Tom Barrasso, 369• Mike Richter, 301• Jonathan Quick, 295• Craig Anderson, 273• Frank Brimsek, 252• Jim Howard, 231• Tim Thomas, 214• Guy Hebert, 191• Ben Bishop, 184• Jon Casey, 170• Cory Schneider, 161  (106 with Devils)• Chris Terreri, 151 (118 with Devils)

On Thursday night in LA, the Devils ended their six-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Kings.

Taylor Hall had three assists in the victory, his third three-assist game for New Jersey since joining the Devils two seasons ago.

The only other Devils player to have a three-assist game versus the Kings was Bruce Driver, who did it twice -- the first time in a 7-5 win over LA at the Meadowlands on Dec. 15, 1989, and again in a 7-1 home-ice victory against the Kings on Jan. 14, 1993.

Keith Kinkaid made 29 saves on 32 shots in the win, improving his career record against the Kings to 4-0.

Martin Brodeur (eight) and Terreri (five) are the only goalies with more regular-season wins against Los Angeles for New Jersey in club history,
