On Friday, Moose and Maggie’s Mystery Guest presented by Jersey Mike’s brought some serious hops to the 1 p.m. (happy?) hour on WFAN.
Today’s Mystery Guest admitted to being a college football player and professional basketball player calling from the Pacific Northwest, and that he wore purple and gold in college and played for seven (actually eight) NBA teams over a decade in the league. Maggie Gray unsuccessfully guessed Bonzi Wells, Isiah Thomas, and Jamal Crawford, but after the minute to guess expired and the guest revealed that he was the only three-time Slam Dunk Champion in NBA history, he was quickly identified as…
Nate Robinson!
Yes, it was former Knick “KryptoNate” who joined Moose and Maggie to kick off their final hour, and, in a way, noted his NBA career was incomparable, outside of perhaps taking the same path from football to basketball (albeit not as successful on one side) as fellow ex-Knick Charlie Ward.
“I love basketball, but there’s something special about football; I can’t say which one was more fun, but I really enjoyed playing both all the way up to college,” Robinson said. “I had to pick one, and I picked hoops; I think I could’ve played in the NFL, but I picked hoops, and I never regret that decision.”
