New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called out Trae Young in his press conference on Tuesday, and wound up getting called out, actually being called a “nerd” to be specific, by the Boomer & Gio crew as a result in Wednesday’s Moment of the Day.

De Blasio, wearing a Knicks hat in that Tuesday press conference, said he had an “important” announcement, and proceeded to call on the Hawks point guard to “stop hunting for fouls” and to play the game the right way, citing Steve Nash as possible inspiration for Young to model his game after.

“That hawk’s not gonna fly,” de Blasio said about Young getting nine free throw attempts in the fourth quarter of Atlanta’s win in game one.

Jerry Recco had something to say about the “dweeby” comments from de Blasio to Young.

“I mean, what a dork,” Recco said. “‘That hawk’s not gonna fly?’ Shut up, nerd.”

Many Knicks fans likely agree with de Blasio’s sentiments, but the delivery itself was cringeworthy to say the least. Jerry seemed to think so.

“Shut up,” Jerry said. “God, shut up.”
