The Giants have finally added a defensive back in the 2022 NFL Draft, adding LSU corner Cordale Flott with the No. 81 overall pick in the third round.
Flott was a two-year starter, making 21 starts in 35 games in Baton Rouge, and racked up 99 tackles (5.5 for loss), one interception, and 11 passes defensed while lining up as a corner, a safety, and nickel.

In 2021, Flott was primarily LSU’s slot corner, notching 41 tackles and his lone pick, as well as a forced fumble. NFL.com’s Draft Profile gave him a grade of 5.98 (average backup or special teamer), with the analysis pegging the 6-foot, 175-pounder as “a developmental cornerback with good speed and excellent length;” and saying “getting Flott to fill out and grow into his frame should be the top priority for teams taking a chance on him.”
NFL.com also says Flott’s “athletic upside is great, but it will be asking a lot of Flott to take on big targets, which could limit his overall ceiling, and that while “he plays the game fast and hard, he hasn't been able to find a functional level of control and recognition in his coverage, and the length and speed make him a likely perimeter cornerback once he gets fully acclimated outside.”
Flott is the first DB selected by the Giants, who lost Logan Ryan in a cap casualty move and have been rumored to be looking to deal corner James Bradberry for further cap relief.
The selection of Flott closes Big Blue’s Day 2, on which they added Kentucky WR Wan’Dale Robinson in the second round and both Flott and North Carolina guard Joshua Ezuede in Round 3.
They also picked up a fourth-round pick (No. 114) from Atlanta and a fifth-round pick (No. 146) from the Jets in a pair of trades that saw them move down first from No. 36 to No. 38, and then to No. 43, where they selected Robinson.
