Sal: Giants win shows why you should still believe in Brian Daboll

Heading into the Giants’ Week 3 matchup with the Browns, Sal was preaching for fans to calm down with the Brian Daboll vitriol, and the idea that he could be on the hot seat if things continued to go downhill this season.

Fast forward to Monday, after an impressive road win over the Browns on Sunday, and Sal says Daboll reinforced why he should have the belief of the fanbase.

“The Giants won that game because of coaching,” Sal said. “That, to me, shows why you should believe in Brian Daboll.”

Big Blue got off to a disastrous start, allowing a touchdown within 15 seconds of the opening kickoff, but Daboll and company settled in, came back for the win, and Sal saw a creative playbook and a more aggressive Daboll, particularly in the first half, which gives him hope that the head coach will once again be able to steady the ship.

“The play calling was the key on that first drive,” Sal said. “Going for it, not only did I think that was the right decision, but how about the play that he had ready to go? That’s something that they knew, game planning against the Cleveland defense, that if they were in a fourth-and-short situation, they’re gonna run that play with Malik Nabers. There was creativity. You could just feel it.

“You could feel that there was brilliant play calling and a brilliant game plan...that’s why the Giants were able to beat Cleveland.”
