The offense has been a disaster for the Giants this season, with the offensive line looking like the worst in the league, allowing 16 sacks in the last two games.
Meanwhile, Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley don’t have a great outlook for suiting up against the Bills on Sunday.
But Sal has his eye on the defense, specifically defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.
“Personally, I think Wink has looked lost,” Sal said. “I don’t know if it’s just because the defense can’t tackle and isn’t being aggressive enough…but I just don’t see any impact.
“I just see another body out there with a headset on.”
The Giants have allowed the third-most passing yards per attempt in the league so far this season, and the third-most yards per carry on the ground. Additions like Bobby Okereke, along with the hopeful development of Kayvon Thibodeaux, were expected to help Big Blue keep the team in games despite a youthful secondary, but so far, the unit hasn’t looked the part, and Sal puts the onus on Martindale.
“How is his impact being felt out there?” Sal said. “You feel sometimes the impact of the coordinator, like Saleh with the 49ers…Wink is a big-time coach, and this year, I’m not feeling any kind of presence or impact from Wink Martindale’s defense.”
