Tiki: Kayvon Thibodeaux frustrated with his role in Giants defense

Giants superfan “License Plate Guy” fueled some speculation on social media on Sunday when he posted a video of Kayvon Thibodeaux, staring towards the ground while sitting at the end of the Giants bench while the rest of the team celebrated a Saquon Barkley score at the other end.

Evan and Tiki discussed the clip on Monday, and Tiki believes Thibodeaux might be frustrated with how he is being utilized within Wink Martindale’s defense.

“He's not being used like he wants to be used,” Tiki said. “Pin your ears back and go get the quarterback. That’s not what Wink’s defense asks you to do.

“Not one guy is going to eat, and Kayvon has to realize that. Maybe this isn’t the right system for a guy who wants to get 15-20 sacks a season. It doesn’t fit what he wants to be.”

As Morash noted, no player in a Martindale defense has ever logged double-digit sacks in a season, so highlighting one pass rusher in his defense is rare, to say the least. Thibodeaux, a former fifth overall pick, could be looking to be a more prominent presence on the defensive end, but so far, he has been widely absent to start the season.

“When they’re playing bad, like they were at the beginning of the game, it compounds,” Tiki said. “They’re playing bad, he feels unfulfilled and feels like he isn’t doing what he wants to do.”
