Sam Howell was all the buzz among Jets fans on Wednesday after SNY’s Connor Hughes floated the idea of Gang Green bringing in the Commanders quarterback to back up Aaron Rodgers next season.

After thinking about it from all sides, Evan is more than intrigued, even going as far as to say that Howell could, in a best-case scenario, become the team’s long-term quarterback after Rodgers calls it a career.

“A guy who is 23 years old, played a lot last year, and had his moments…that person we’re talking about is Sam Howell,” Evan said.

“You can bring in him as that backup in case Aaron Rodgers misses a game. He has starting experience. He’s not afraid…this is the added bonus. He’s 23. when he sits behind Aaron Rodgers for a year or two or three, because he’s not making a lot of money…you get the best of both worlds. You get the capable backup…and the whimsical thoughts that Sam Howell is your long-term answer at quarterback.”

Tiki met with Howell numerous times last season, and while he did lead the league in interceptions, he was behind a dreadful offensive line in Washington, and Tiki raved about his mental makeup after their several discussions about the game. And with the minimal money he would require due to his draft slot and age, he would also be into the idea of Howell in New York as the QB2.
