Sunday afternoon was a rough day at the office for Zach Wilson, to say the least, as he was benched in an eventual 32-6 blowout loss to the Bills that put a major dent in the Jets playoff hopes.
It didn’t help that Wilson was also collectively laughed at late in the first half, when he tripped over his own feet and fell to the ground while jogging onto the field to begin a Gang Green possession.
The quarterback jogged towards the line of scrimmage, and as he tried to turn into a backpedal to look at the Jets sideline, his feet collided, causing him to fall onto his back, and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said players were chuckling on the sideline, as was Wilson himself.
Wilson wasn’t laughing shortly after, when he threw an interception on the ensuing drive, and was soon benched in favor of Tim Boyle.
Now, Wilson’s status as the starting quarterback is up in the air, as Robert Saleh would not commit to naming a starting quarterback for Friday’s game against the Dolphins.
