The Knicks were wrapping up practice on Tuesday when Julius Randle saw his four-year old son emerge from the tunnel and onto the court.
Randle's son, Kyden, was carrying the latest accolade for the 26-year-old, the trophy for winning the NBA's Most Improved Player Award.
Kyden ran onto the floor and handed his father the trophy while Randle's teammates and coaches cheered.
"The awards and stuff are great, but what we're doing as a team is better," Randle said to his team after Kyden handed him the trophy. "That's what I wake up for. That's why I work hard, so I can give y'all my best."
Randle won the award after averaging career-highs in points, assists and 3-point percentage to help lead the Knicks to their first playoff berth since 2013, and home court advantage in the first round.
"I appreciate y'all entrusting in me and believing in me," Randle said. "All of that."
Randle gave the trophy back to his son Kyden after leaving one last message for his teammates.
"Most Improved is cool," Randle said. "But lets get wins."
