U.S. Congressman Blasts Knicks Owner James Dolan: 'Absolute Disgrace'

Knicks fans that he has to ban from Madison Square Garden, other members of the sports media taking him to task…James Dolan can’t catch a break from anyone.

Not even, apparently, his own state’s legislators!

TMZ Sports cameras caught Max Rose, the U.S. Representative for the 11th District of New York (covering Staten Island and part of Brooklyn), ranting about Dolan on Capitol Hill, calling Dolan’s tenure as Knicks owner “an absolute disgrace.”

“I’m a Knicks fan until the day I die, but Dolan’s gotta sell!” Rose said. “They don't make the playoffs. Nothing's happening. Every year that they don't make the playoffs, New York City loses out. We lose a piece of our soul. Sell tomorrow. Sell today. Do it for the good of all of us, brother!"

Rose suggested that maybe the TMZ cameraman who ambushed him might be a better owner than the current Executive Chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company.

“Look, the Knicks got to stay. Dolan's just got to sell. Drives the team into the ground, man! It's disgraceful!" the Congressman ranted.

Dolan doesn’t take lightly to criticism – the aforementioned banning from MSG came when a fan yelled at him to sell the team while walking through the tunnel during a game in 2019 – and Congressman Rose, who is 33, wasn’t even a teenager the last time the Knicks reached the NBA Finals in 1999.

Remains to be seen if Dolan can, or will, ban an elected official from his premises, too, although Rose is more than that: he also is a decorated Army veteran, one who earned a Purple Heart after being wounded in Afghanistan, and deployed with the National Guard in NYC during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However Dolan responds (if at all), though, one note for the Congressman: Barclays Center is in Brooklyn, the borough you were born and raised in and represent part of.
