Boomer has tried to remain optimistic about the Mets throughout their disappointing season, but he reached a tipping point on Sunday night.
Now, he has joined Gio in his declaration that the 2023 Mets are toast.
"Just forget it. It's over," Boomer said to open Monday's show. "I can't believe I'm saying this, because I'm usually the guy who sees the glass as half full."
The glass has now spilled over, and Gio was delighted to hear that his co-host has come around to his reality, and the reality of many others, as the Mets sit 7.5 games back of a playoff spot with August just around the corner.
"It's over," Gio said. "There is nothing that can happen now to the trade deadline that should make the Mets buyers...done. Try to get rid of some of the dead weight and help the farm system if you can."
