BT has heard enough David Stearns criticism from Mets fans when it comes to his first offseason as president of baseball operations, and would go as far as to say the hate for Stearns is "pathetic."
"I think it's wildly unfair and I think it's wildly irresponsible, the way many of you are framing Stearns already," BT said. "The way you guys are so quickly characterizing David Stearns is laughable. It's unfair. It's very quick, and it's going to prove to be erroneous. He's going to build you a team.
"The Stearns slander is, is ridiculous, man. It's starting to border on pathetic. It's just way too early."
BT can't help but laugh at the worry from some Mets fans that Stearns was brought in to run the franchise like a small-market team, and says he is simply trying to build the franchise the right way, even if it means not contending in 2024.
"Is he going to intentionally come back here and sabotage the team that he grew up rooting for? Does anybody think that's on his syllabus? No," BT said. "He doesn't want to spend bad money. He doesn't want to spend money that's gonna give you a temporary gratification and then be a complete albatross for years.
"He's doing it smart. Let the man breathe a little bit."
