C-Mac: Mets currently acting like David Stearns is still running the Brewers

C-Mac wondered why the Mets offseason was being celebrated by much of the fanbase before the signing of Harrison Bader on Thursday, which prompted C-Mac to dig even deeper into the opinion that New York is not serious about going all in to erase the frustration of 2023.

"They're acting like Milwaukee. You're acting like [David] Stearns running Milwaukee," C-Mac said. "When a Stearns type runs a Milwaukee, a mid-market team really well, everyone says 'Imagine what he could do with money?'

"What we're finding out right now from Stearns so far is that he brings Milwaukee to New York. That's not what I expected. "

The thought was that Cohen would flex his financial might and make the Mets a consistent contender, but so far, he seems to be taking a more measured and incremental approach after last year's disaster. C-Mac was expecting more, and he wonders if Cohen will ever get back to his historic spending.

"The point of being Steve Cohen and owning the Mets is that you can give out those contracts, and it doesn't kill you…you work around it, you spend more money," C-Mac said. "I'm not saying hand out stupid contract after stupid contract, but they have to do something to fix this rotation, and that might mean giving Blake Snell of Jordan Montgomery more money than you're comfortable with.

"I'm concerned that this is the way they think they should go about it."
