BT didn't like this analytical talk from Billy Eppler: 'Stop trying to sound so smart'

Billy Eppler joined Carton and Roberts on Thursday to discuss the Mets’ deadline moves and what may lie ahead for the roster as the team continues its push towards the postseason, but one part of the interview had Brandon Tierney particularly ticked off.

“Eppler used a word that I just cringed at,” BT said during Friday’s show, later revealing that it was the word “optionality” that Eppler used when describing the options at the Mets disposal when it comes to the pitching staff despite only adding one reliever at the trade deadline.

“It just sounded so weirdly placed. Stop trying to church it up, dude…’asset allocation,’ I get all the vocabulary, but it just annoys me. Stop trying to sound so smart, dude.”

Both Tiki and Tierney have made it clear that they’re not the biggest fans of over-analytic speak, and clearly, BT would have preferred a more simplified response to the questions about where the team stands after the trade deadline.

“The more Billy speaks…I gotta talk to him,” BT said. “I gotta give him some lessons here.”
