The Mets and Red Sox Twitter accounts formed an "alliance" on Wednesday, then began advocating for finalists of each other's team to be voted into the 2022 All-Star Game.
The social media movement, labeled "MetSox," is calling for fans of the other team to vote their finalists into the Midsummer Classic, and Craig came into Wednesday's show ready to rip the Mets apart for it.
"The New York Mets have just announced to every living Yankee fan that they want some," Craig said. "They want a little taste. They want to create what amounts to a baseball Civil War.
"On behalf of all Yankee fans, we're here. If you want us to be your huckleberry, game on, with your 2.5 game lead over the Braves, and your fear of losing Jacob deGrom to the Braves…game on. You should be ashamed of yourselves. You're an embarrassment."
The Mets teaming up with the Yankees' biggest rival, in Craig's eyes, is another little brother act from the Mets that continues to highlight their jealousy towards their crosstown foe.
"This is the most embarrassing, low-rent thing the Wilpon Mets have ever done. That's what this is," Craig said. "This is Steve Cohen allowing his franchise to be b---h slapped by the Boston Red Sox…Steve Cohen is no better than Jeff Wilpon today, because this is beneath him.
"This reeks of 'We are so desperate and jealous of the New York Yankees that we're gonna join forces publicly with the Yankees' hated rival.'"
Evan tried to explain that regardless of the All-Star Game movement, this isn't the same Mets of the Wilpon era, but Craig wasn't hearing it.
"Every time I think the New York Mets aren't the same old Mets, it's just in the DNA," Craig said. "This is a clown show."
