Former Mets manager Billy Eppler has been suspended and placed on the Ineligible List through the conclusion of the 2024 World Series, Major League Baseball announced Friday afternoon.
Eppler was being investigated for improper use of the injured list, and per MLB’s press release, Eppler showed a “pattern” of “improper use of injured list placements, including the deliberate fabrication of injuries.”
The report says it was found that Eppler committed “multiple” violations during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, both of the years that he was with the Mets.
Eppler stepped away on Oct. 5, days after David Stearns was hired to be the team’s president of baseball operations.
Mets ownership nor members of the team’s medical staff were mentioned in the release.
