Tylor Megill to make return from IL on Friday

The Mets are in need of a boost after suffering two straight blowouts, and they will get one in the rotation when they begin their series against the Angels.

Buck Showalter confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that Tylor Megill will be making his return from the IL to pitch on Friday against the reeling Halos, who have lost 14 in a row.

"He's gonna pitch Friday," Showalter said. "Looks like Friday. He had a light work day today, and the only thing that would change that is if there was an issue [Friday] that we were not expecting…so he's gonna start Friday."

Megill hasn't pitched since May 11, so he will have missed almost exactly one month with right biceps tendinitis.

Filling in for Jacob deGrom to start the season, Megill was outstanding to begin the year for the Mets, sporting an increased fastball velocity and pitching to a 1.93 ERA over his first five starts before struggling in his last two before hitting the IL.
