The Mets have already locked up their top bullpen piece in closer Edwin Diaz, and are reportedly hoping to sign another one of their top relievers from the 2022 campaign.
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, New York is hoping to sign Adam Ottavino, who posted a 2.06 ERA with 79 strikeouts in 65.2 innings of work last season. But, per Puma, the Mets would like to sign Ottavino on a one-year deal, while the 37-year-old could be seeking something more in what could be his final time in free agency.

Puma’s report is less optimistic on the Mets bringing back Seth Lugo, who will also be seeking a multi-year dear, and Puma says a reunion is “less likely at this point” than with Ottavino, who is a New York native and could like being closer to home.
