Pete Alonso didn't have to take much time to think about it.
His solo shot on Saturday night to put the Mets ahead for good was the biggest home run of his baseball career.
"I think so, yeah," Alonso said. "Being able to come up clutch in a spot like that to get the lead, that was awesome. Hopefully I can hit a few more like that tomorrow and moving forward. Just really happy I was able to help the team."
With the help of Alonso's clutch home run, the Mets are now one win away from advancing to the NLDS, picking themselves off the mat and coming alive offensively to ensure that the 101-win team lives to fight at least one more day, being Sunday night for a winner-take-all game three.
"This was really special," Alonso said. "It was excellent, crowd was wonderful. Our dugout was fantastic. The boys were ready to go today.
"We came ready to play. We played free and loose. It was a special night, but we know we have our work cut out for us tomorrow."
