The Mets have plans in place to acknowledge on of the most beloved players in franchise history, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Per DiComo, the team has scheduled a Tom Seaver statue dedication for July 22 at Citi Field, with the ceremony taking place on an off day so members of the organization and Seaver’s family can attend.

Seaver passed away last August after years of health problems and dementia.

The Mets announced that they commissioned a statue of Seaver back in June of 2019, when they also announced that the address of Citi Field was being changed to 41 Seaver Way. It was reported when the statue was commissioned that it would stand roughly eight feet tall and would be placed near the original home run apple from Shea Stadium, which sits outside Citi Field.

Seaver, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, is the Mets’ franchise leader in wins, strikeouts and career ERA.

In addition, the Mets will retire Jerry Koosman’s No. 36 sometime in September, a ceremony that was originally scheduled for last season before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Around that time, the team will also induct Jon Matlack, Edgardo Alfonzo and Ron Darling into its Hall of Fame.
