Steve Somers filled in for a rare Sunday evening Schmooze, and his opening monologue, centered around the return of baseball, didn’t disappoint.

The monologue included the assertion that Pete Alonso will be a Met for life, and the idea that the homegrown slugger is as good as gone at the end of this season is a ludicrous one.

“That is a ridiculous argument,” Steve said. “Alonso, he’s going nowhere. Yeah, Stearns may not have the love affair that Metropolitan fans have with Pete Alonso, but if Steve Cohen says he stays and pays for it…Stearns won’t have any other choice but to keep the Polar Bear.”
