A Rolling Stone story linked Kyrie Irving to a group of NBA players refusing to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, but it got much weirder than that, which was the topic of Monday's Moment of the Day.
Per the report, Irving has recently been liking social media posts suggesting that the vaccine is being used to connect Black people to a master computers for "a plan for Satan." That troubling report led Gio to an idea that he uses himself, one that could help Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks get Irving vaccinated and to the team facility for training camp.
"When Sabrina throws a tantrum over something, and she's small, doesn't understand a lot of things, sometimes I fake a phone call to somebody," Gio explained. "'Papa and Gaga are on the phone, they're upset that you're upset and they said they're not coming over unless you stop crying.'"
So, what if Marks took this approach with Irving?
"'Kyrie, I got Satan on the phone,'" Gio said in his classic Marks impersonation. "'He's telling me he's not interested in connecting Black people to the computer…so that's a lie. See, Kyrie? That was a lie. He's not connecting anybody.'"
Irving wasn't present for Nets Media Day on Monday, reportedly because of New York City's health and safety protocols, but maybe a phone call from Gio posing as Marks will help sort everything out.
