BT: Nets disaster is biggest disappointment in New York sports history

The Nets’ short yet tumultuous bid at forming a superteam has come to an end, with Kevin Durant representing the biggest blockbuster of the NBA trade deadline.

For BT, Durant’s departure, preceded by Kyrie Irving’s just days before, also represents the biggest failure in New York sports history, after a trio of superstars were brought together, only to win all of one playoff series.

“Nobody in the history of our city…made such earth-shattering moves, moved mountains, to buy and acquire relevance and championship pedigree, and accomplished so little,” BT said. “Complete waste of time. Aggravation, disrespect, a mockery, and where did it get you? It got you nowhere.”

Sure, Brooklyn was able to bring in three of the league’s brightest stars in Irving, Durant, and James Harden, but BT says after how all three left (by trade request), it’s going to be much harder for the team to attract stars in the future, whenever their rebuild is ready for one.

“The Nets are viewed now as toxic around the league,” BT said. “The coaching community, when they sacrificed Kenny Atkinson…were like ‘Oh, wow the Nets just did Kenny dirty.’ The players around the NBA are looking at the Nets right now as an organization that did KD and Kyrie dirty, when in reality, Kyrie took a scud missile to the organization.

“The Nets are irrelevant again. Completely irrelevant. I would challenge anybody to come up with a worse decision or execution of a plan than the Brooklyn Nets.”
