Kevin Durant’s return to the Nets appears to be imminent.
Head coach Steve Nash told reporters on Saturday that the Brooklyn superstar will make his return within the next week, though it won’t be on Saturday against the Bucks. Durant hasn’t played since Jan. 15, and the Nets are 7-17 without him this season.
Nash said Durant went through a second high-intensity workout on Saturday, and if he goes through a third with no problems, he will be cleared to play. Looking ahead, Brooklyn plays the Raptors on Monday and Tuesday before taking on the Heat, another perennial Eastern Conference contender, on Thursday.
As for Ben Simmons, who has yet to play at all this season, Nash said he has not begun high-intensity workouts, as the team continues to monitor his conditioning after going nearly a year without in-game action. He still has no timetable to make his team debut.
Goran Dragic is expected to make his debut, but his workload for Saturday against Milwaukee will be determined as the game goes along.
