Hours after agreeing to trade Joe Harris to Detroit and getting a nearly $20 million trade exception, the Nets have reportedly put that money to good use.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets have agreed to a four-year, $108 million deal with restricted free agent Cameron Johnson, a large raise over the $8.47 million qualifying offer he was extended earlier this month to make him an RFA.
Johnson, who was a first-round pick in 2019, was dealt to Brooklyn as part of the Kevin Durant deal back in February, and he averaged 19.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in 25 contests with the Nets, shooting 47 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from 3-point range.
His return takes up most of the trade exception the Nets got for Harris, as his $27 million AAV is just under the combination of his qualifying offer and Harris’ salary ($27,989,104 officially).
