Keith is disgusted with the current state of the Nets, but he had to stand up for the team’s fanbase after it was put under heavy fire following a loss to the Knicks on Tuesday night that included visiting fans taking over the Barclays Center.
“I’m not giving you any blood,” Keith said. “The Nets suck, they’re trash, they’re a bottom three team in the league in my opinion…it is an absolute mess in Brooklyn.
“I keep hearing this narrative about Knicks fans taking over the building.
You would think Brooklyn was in New Mexico, not New York. You would think it was further away than the Wells Fargo Center. Just a couple weeks ago, when the Knicks went down to face the reigning MVP, they took over Philadelphia as well…this happens in the NBA. Trust me, I know. I’ve seen the Miami Heat come into the Barclays Center and their fans take over the building. I’ve seen it with the Warriors.”
So, now that the Knicks are on the rise and the Nets are on the decline, it doesn’t surprise Keith that a team that plays a few subway stops away has a load of fans invading the building. It certainly doesn’t mean that the Brooklyn fanbase is dead.
“It doesn’t surprise me that New Yorkers live in New York…the Knicks fans and the fandom has been here for a century,” Keith said. “The Brooklyn Nets specifically rebranded and have been on Flatbush and Atlantic 10, now 11 years. This Nets World has been built, and it was built on the backs of the superstars that were here.
“I swear, y’all are gassing the situation about the Knicks fans taking over the building…it should. The Nets are terrible now.”
