Love him or hate him, Terrell Owens knows how to entertain.
But will the pompom-shaking, Sharpie-producing former wide receiver who once famously urged fans to "get your popcorn ready" bring that same sort of flare to his Hall of Fame induction speech in August?
"I have some stuff in store," T.O. told WFAN's "Carlin, Maggie & Bart" on Tuesday. "Trust me."
Owens, who played for the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, Bills and Bengals, didn't divulge details about what he might say or do in his speech, but he did suggest the journey he took to NFL stardom could come up.
"I was always one of those kids, man, I had enough talent to make the team, but never really to crack the starting lineup," he said. "And that was pretty much in basketball, baseball and in football. So my high school coach, he tells these stories all the time that during my high school career I was tugging on his shirt, 'Let me get in, let me get in.' But I was a late bloomer. Really undersized. But it was really my desire, my dedication and my discipline what enabled me to get to do some of the things that I did on the football field."
Believing his stats warranted being a first-ballot Hall of Famer, Owens said being voted into Canton this year, in his third try, was "bittersweet." His reputation for being disruptive and divisive in locker rooms was likely the biggest reason he was forced to wait, although he says the perception about him does not match reality.
"Disruptive in what manner?" he said. "Did I have some differences obviously with maybe some coaches or some players? Who hasn't?"
