Louis Domingue is New York bound after signing a contract with the Rangers, and he’s bringing the jokes with him.
The former Penguins netminder tweeted Wednesday after the deal was announced, “Any suggestions for a good spicy pork restaurant in NYC? Asking for a friend,” in an obvious nod to his memorable interview after beating the Rangers in game one of the first round this past season within an improbable relief performance.
In that series opener, Penguins backup goalie Casey DeSmith had 48 saves before leaving with an injury in the middle of the second overtime period, leaving the third stringer Domingue to come in and try to get a win on the road at Madison Square Garden. Domingue responded by stopping all 17 shots he faced to get Pittsburgh a win in triple overtime.
“I actually had quite the meal in between the first and second overtime. I didn’t expect to go in, but maybe it sustained my energy,” Domingue said after the game. “It was some spicy pork and broccoli. Not the best.”
Now that New York will be his home city. Maybe Domingue or some Rangers fans can help him find a better version of that peculiar dish.
