Rutgers faces an uphill climb Saturday afternoon when they visit No. 3 Ohio State, but that climb may have gotten a little more manageable.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, star Buckeyes receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will not be suiting up against the Scarlet Knights due to a hamstring issue, taking away one of Ohio State’s top playmaking weapons.
The decision, according to Thamel, is out of an “abundance of caution” to make sure Smith-Njigba is healthy for the remainder of the season. He is one of the top receivers in the nation and expected to be one of the top picks in next year’s NFL Draft.
The Buckeyes will still be heavy favorites, but the day likely just got a little less daunting for the Rutgers secondary.
