The Carolina Panthers remain searching for the fifth head coach in team history.

Almost a month after firing longtime coach Ron Rivera, the Panthers became one of five teams this offseason to have a vacant head coach position.

Rivera filled one of the openings when he was hired by the Washington Redskins on a five-year deal last week.

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has reportedly been hired by the Dallas Cowboys.

McCarthy had two interviews with the Panthers last week.

The Panthers, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns are the only teams remaining with vacancies.

Here is who Carolina has been linked to:

-Eric Bieniemy, KC Chiefs offensive coordinator

Bieniemy reportedly interviewed with the Panthers last week and has been a favorite among many fans on Twitter.

Bieniemy is in his second year as the Chiefs offensive coordinator as has overseen the progression of 2018 MVP QB Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he expects Bieniemy to be hired somewhere and that he is the true definition of a "players coach."

On Wilson & Parcell last week, Panthers team reporter Carolina Cann said Bieniemy "likes Cam Newton" and wants to "work with Newton."

-Matt Rhule, Baylor Bears head coach

Rhule has been a hot head coaching candidate this offseason after leading the Baylor Bears to an 11-3 record this season, just two years following a 1-11 record.

Rhule was an assistant offensive line coach with the Giants in 2012, but that's the only NFL experience he has had.

The biggest plus for Rhule is how he turned around the Baylor culture after the school's scandal a few years back and his turnaround of the Temple program prior to taking over the Bears.

Rhule is expected to interview with the Panthers on Monday. It's his first reported interview and he plans to interview with the Giants on Tuesday. Sources have said the Giants are the favorite to hire Rhule if all goes well.

-Josh McDaniels, New England Patriots offensive coordinator

McDaniels is a hot head coaching candidate almost every offseason.

McDaniels took the Indianapolis Colts head coach position in 2018 but ended up having a change of heart and stayed with the Patriots.

With the Patriots dynasty seemingly headed towards an end, it's expected that McDaniels will finally take a head coaching position.

Aside from the fact that he's been the offensive coordinator/QBs coach for Tom Brady, McDaniels has a history of winning.

His time as the Denver Broncos head coach in 2009 didn't pan out well, but he's won three Super Bowls since and has made New England a top offensive team despite a lack of weapons around Brady.

The Panthers put in a request to interview McDaniels but nothing has been set up yet. McDaniels is also expected to meet with the Giants and Browns.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer told Wilson & Parcell last month that Carolina has been linked to McDaniels for a while now.

-Kevin Stefanski, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator

Stefanski came into the fold as a candidate in the past week and helped his case tremendously following a huge Vikings overtime win vs. the 13-3 New Orleans Saints in Sunday's Wild Card matchup.

Since taking over as the Vikings offensive coordinator in 2018, Stefanski has helped develop running back Dalvin Cook into one of the league's best running backs and overseen quarterback Kirk Cousins turn into one of the league's most consistent quarterbacks.

Stefanski has been in Minnesota's organization since 2006 and is regarded as one of the league's up and coming coaches with experience as an assistant as multiple offensive positions.

Stefanski is reportedly set to meet with the Panthers on Thursday. The Browns are also scheduled to meet with him.

-Perry Fewell, interim Panthers head coach
Fewell's 0-4 record after taking as the team's interim head coach when Rivera was fired is not a good look.

Not only did the Panthers go winless, but they were blown out and seemed checked out.

Fewell was also an interim head coach with the Buffalo Bills in the past and was the New York Giants defensive coordinator during the team's 2012 Super Bowl win.

Fewell is expected to interview with Carolina this week but it would be a surprise if he was hired.
