The Carolina Panther legend turned NFL Network Analyst joined Kyle Bailey today on the Clubhouse to recap the Panthers loss to the Bucs, and the amount of major injuries in the NFL this weekend.
The first thing that Steve addressed with Kyle were the amount of major injuries to big names yesterday from Nick Bosa to Saquon Barkley to even the Panthers Christian McCaffrey as Steve told Kyle these injuries often happen more in the preseason, but with no preseason and a limited training camp it has caused these injuries to occur more and at a more severe rate.
When it came to the Panthers 31-17 loss to the Buccaneers Steve told Kyle:
"They had a ton of mistakes as they are trying to find their identity while going against an opportunistic defense and you can't mistakes like that against Tampa, but we have to remember that they're still young."
Steve also defended the fake punt call from Matt Rhule as Steve said that as a team you want some type of momentum and something to build on much like what the Cowboys had in the second half. Steve also noted that a younger coach would be more likely to pull this move off than an older coach, and gambling like that is the same stuff that helped start momentum early in Ron Rivera's tenure in Carolina.
