Chip Patterson; who covers both College Football and Golf for CBS Sports joined Kyle Bailey today on The Clubhouse to discuss the potential impact of Will Muschamp's firing, and the significance of Dustin Johnson winning the Masters.
When it came to South Carolina becoming the first power 5 team firing their head coach this year Chip compared it to a rope swing by the lake as South Carolina took that risk of PR blow back to be the first in the water which according to Chip will likely be the green light for other programs to do the same. When it came to who should replace Muschamp Chip thinks Billy Napier from Louisiana makes the most sense due to his track record in South Carolina, and his offensive approach.
Kyle then brought the conversation to the Old North State as he asked Chip if the Tar Heels are getting disrespected by not being put in the AP Polls after winning 2 straight as Chip was quick to say no because there is a really slim margin between the teams ahead of them, but Chip thinks that Carolina is in a great place going forward with what Chip thinks is the best offense in the ACC.
The final topic that was broached for Chip was Dustin Johnson winning the first Masters that took place in November as Chip discussed how big of a deal it was for Dustin Johnson to close out with a lead heading into the final day which has haunted Dustin to this point, as Chi loved seeing him break the trend because he has become the best player on tour since the return and Chip thinks that Dustin can run this momentum back in April.
