Carlan Gay from DAZN and NBA.com immediately spoke about the pandemic’s effect on both the NBA Draft and Free Agency, predicting a bunch of one year contracts with many players fighting for a championship this season.
He was asked about Russell Westbrook, Gay said that his trade request was really impactful, and also said he could end up anywhere. Gay cautioned that Westbrook will bring baggage to whatever team he ends up playing for. Stan turned the conversation to the draft, and Gay said the Hornets will have plenty of options with the third pick. Gay went back to the Westbrook topic and confidently said that Westbrook would bring a “buzz to the city” and put the Hornets back in the playoff conversation.
Gay closed by saying that increased social justice awareness may make Charlotte a more attractive free agent market because Michael Jordan is the only minority majority team owner in the NBA.
